After severe NARGIS cyclone hit Myanmar, the
whole situation is in chaos.
As the leading Geospatial Information Services
Provider in Asia including Myanmar, we, Credent
Technology (Asia) and its office in Myanmar,
Credent Technology (Myanmar) have received many
requests from various organizations including
Natural Disaster Preparedness Committees at
different levels, Myanmar Government Ministries,
NGOs, INGOS, UN organizations, and many
individuals who are stepping into cyclone
affected areas to help the victims; about a
population of 1.5 millions who are trying to
survive after an estimated death toll of over
100,000.
They request maps and GIS data from us, so that
they can use in the relief and recovery works in
the area.
We have tried to help with what we can.
First of all, what we have done is we produce
the GIS maps using the data we have, compiled
all the related map data from all the available
resources including local organizations and web.
Then we distributed them in both softcopy and
hardcopy formats to those who are in such a
need.
Now, we develop this website
www.nargismaps.com, where we host all the
related maps, satellite imagery, GIS data, etc.,
which we have compiled so that those who need
will be able to view, download and use them from
this common place.
Some maps and GIS data files may be in large
sizes, and the internet speed in Myanmar may not
allow viewing or downloading them. Then, those
organizations in Myanmar who need such maps and
files may request us by calling to our office in
Yangon, so that we may provide them in CD and/
or hardcopy format as necessary.
We will update our website, timely, on
daily-basis, to serve the needs effectively.
If there is any specific mapping services needed
for any specific organizations, we will be
pleased to serve for such a task.
Please do not hesitate to contact our Myanmar
office, (95)(1) 652285-86, or Mr. Zaw Naing, our
country manager, (95)(9)-50 100 37, for any
mapping and geospatial information needs.
We believe this website will help those people
helping NARGIS victims who are still fighting
for their survivals.
